How Faith Hill Inspires Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert influences run the gamut.

Even though the country superstar has adopted a traditional style throughout her career, she reveals in a new interview that as a kid, she was influenced by pop country and just plain pop music.

“I loved from Patti Loveless to Faith [Hill], Shania [Twain], Sara Evans. Then also the pop side, you know, Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child. I was loving people that had something different, that did something a little bit different,” Miranda says.

The “Tin Man” singer specifically sites Faith’s 2002 Cry album as one of her biggest influencers.

“When Faith did the pop album, the Cry record, I just thought it was great,” she says. “And Shania obviously wrote all kinds of records and [broke] barriers with her music. Those aren’t necessarily my musical influences, of course, but they’re influences to me as far as what they did later on in their careers versus when they started.”

Miranda leads nominations at the upcoming CMA Awards with five total.
