Dierks Bentley's 'The Mountain' Comes to Life During Album Release Party

Dierks Bentley released his brand new album, The Mountain, on June 8th via Capitol Records Nashville, and the country star celebrated with an intimate group of fans during his iHeartCountry Album Release Party, performing new music from the record, as well as some Dierks fan favorites.

The Mountain is Bentley's ninth full-length studio album, and was written and recorded in Telluride, Colorado. During the process, Dierks brought along fellow songwriters Natalie Hemby, Luke Dick, Ross Copperman, Jon Randall, Jon Nite and Ashley Gorley to help co-write the record.

During his iHeartCountry Album Release Party, Dierks performed several songs from The Mountain including "Woman, Amen," "Living," "Burning Man," and "Can't Bring Me Down." But Bentley also gave fans some of his biggest hits from previous albums, going all the way back to his 2003 self-titled sophomore LP, performing, "What Was I Thinkin'," in addition to tracks like "Drunk on a Plane," "Somewhere On A Beach," "5-1-5-0," and more.

But aside from his amazing performance, during the show Dierks also opened up about his new album, talking exclusively to host Bobby Bones

Dierks worked on The Mountain in Telluride, Colorado, and explained that normally, he is used to a schedule, doing things like picking up his kids from school, etc. But that when it came time to put this album together, his wife encouraged him to get out of town. In Telluride, he was fully focused on his album, and less focused on things he'd normally be doing. He joked, "It was a way for me to basically work on a record and have a vacation at the same time."

Right before performing "Woman, Amen," Dierks said of the song,"What's so cool about this song is just in the response." He explained that he has asked people to use the hashtag #WomanAmen on social media, and fans had used it to share pictures of women who inspire them. So, Dierks incorporated these social media posts into his live shows, showing them on the screen behind him. He adds of the inspirational message of the track, "I love the legs that song has beyond just being a hit song."

Dierks also talked about his Brothers Osborne collaboration, and newest single "Burning Man." He recalled of what it was like working with the brother duo, comprised of T.J. and John Osborne:

"I think there's a great voice in country music, and the song kind of had a thing where it felt like it'd be a duet, then it had this screaming guitar solo part. It was like, wow, it's the perfect combination. T.J.'s one of the great singers in the new classic country artists, and his brother, John, is just a phenomenal guitar player, and it's just easy. [I] called him up, and then they immediately responded, or texted me, immediately responded, and they came in the studio two days later, and we just spent about four hours just ... I think John's solo's right at the very first take. We're like, 'Just keep playing! It's so good. Just keep playing.' So, it's a really fun collaboration. And I love the song. It just talks about all of us. We're all a little bit this, a little bit that. We're all a little bit holy water, a little bit burning man. We all have that side of us. I get back on the stage, I feel like I'm a kid again. I step off it, and I have kids. It's a very bizarre world."
