Zedd Talks About His Upcoming Collaboration With Shawn Mendes

Zedd has spilled on his collaboration with Shawn Mendes, telling Capital FM that the song has yet to be worked on, but will definitely see the light of day.

On Wednesday (July 18), the EDM heavyweight spoke about the power team-up, admitting that the track first started on Mendes' end. "There will be a song. We have a song we wanna work on that Shawn started," Zedd told host Roman Kemp. "We played a show together. We were in a group chat with another friend who was always pushing us to make a song together. We want to as well, but we couldn't align our schedules. He was, like, 'I have this idea' and he started playing it."

He also went on to explain that they just need to lock in studio time to make sure it gets done. "Unfortunately, I'm very slow at producing music. I take my time, but it will 100% happen," the 28-year-old continued. Zedd first unveiled to iHeartRadio that he would team up with the singer/songwriter to work on a track. "You will get it," the DJ wrote in response to our tweet requesting a song from the pop hitmakers.

In the meantime, you can spin the DJ's new single, 'Happy Now, featuring Elley Duhe, which dropped on Wednesday. "'Happy Now' is the most organic sounding song I've made in a long time. The majority of what you hear was recorded using real instrumentation, a lot of pianos and a lot of guitars," he admitted. "Lyrically, it's a song that is both happy and sad at the same time, while musically, it's a song that rather leans towards a happier, sunnier side."
