Potatoes Took Over Apartment While Owner Was Away For 3 Month Quarantine

When coronavirus first started spreading and stay-at-home orders went into effect across the globe, many people chose to hunker down with loved ones like parents, siblings or significant others. That was the case for Donna Porée of France. Porée decided to spend the lockdown with her boyfriend, who lived on the other side of her town. So when the local government warned people to stay in their homes to slow the spread of the virus, she quickly packed some things and headed out to her boyfriend's. Among the items she left behind was a bag of potatoes she got at the local market with plans to cook them that week. She didn't think twice about leaving them out, but what she came back to when she returned to her apartment three months later when the stay-at-home order was lifted left her in shock.

The potatoes sprouted and had what looked like long, pink tentacles climbing her walls in all directions.

Donna told the Mirror, "As I opened the front door, I noticed a strange shape at the back of the kitchen. As the light was off and shutters down, I didn't realize it was the potatoes. It was only after opening the shutters that I took note of this extraordinary sight. I was terrified at first, but after realizing what it was I laughed a lot and shared a video of the plant on Snapchat."

The shoots pushed through the seals on her countertops and even wrapped themselves around a nearby broom. Donna said it took her hours to get rid of all the potato parts, noting, "It wasn't easy. I ended up having to cut some of the shoots out with scissors and I had to fill in the holes they made."

There might be a sequel to this horror story too. Donna revealed, "I replanted the potatoes in my vegetable patch and today they're growing once again. I'm eager to see what will come out of the ground."
