(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says the storm surge from Hurricane Ian has peaked.

DeSantis said there has been a life threatening storm surge and major flooding across counties, including inland flooding. He says reports are coming in about some structural damage across the state, but that flooding and the surge, which has hit around 12-feet, remain the big issues. The surge appears to have peaked, but DeSantis says Ian is a very strong Category Four storm and one of the largest hurricanes to ever hit Florida, with over one-million people currently without power.
