The holiday season might be a bit different for Luke Bryan and his family this year… The “Country On” artist and American Idol judge shared in a new interview that the family will skip their usual ski trip as his wife, Caroline, recovers from hip surgery. Instead, some relatives will visit the country superstar’s family in Nashville, Tennessee.

Caroline — often known for her hilarious “Pranksmas” jokes this time of year — shared on Instagram last month that she’d undergone an “unexpected hip surgery,” sharing a photo from the hospital. Days later, she posted an update on her Instagram story, sitting in her wheelchair and clarifying that the surgery wasn’t unexpected, but she hadn’t been “ready to accept it. …So, there was no emergency, no fall, no car wreck. I had a torn labrum, hip dysplasia and a lot of arthritis. It goes so bad that we just had to fix it. So, that’s it!”

“Caroline, my wife, had some hip surgery,” Bryan recently told Entertainment Tonight. “We're just having to lay low. Typically we do some ski trips. We might do some boys ski trips as she's on the mend. …It's always really cold and beautiful in Nashville and the Nashville area. I'll get my family up, and we'll go try to do a little hunting and stuff like that with all the boys. The girls, they go do their shopping and gift wrapping and, you know, drinking wine through the day and all the boys are somewhere in a hunting blind.”
