Darius Rucker and his fiancée are “not going to plan” a wedding.

Rucker, 59, briefly spoke about his engagement to Emily Deahl during an appearance on the TODAY show on Monday (November 10). Rucker said, “Emily and I, we’ve been together for a couple years,” though they kept their relationships under wraps until posting a selfie together in September. Rucker said Deahl is “an amazing human being. (The engagement) was a great day. ...We don’t really have any [wedding] plans. We’re not going to plan. We’re just going to get married and have a big party somewhere.”

Last month, Rucker and Deahl, 33, shared a photo by photographer Travis Dew of the moment he popped the question on Pawleys Island in South Carolina. Rucker’s announcement also included a selfie Rucker took while kissing Deahl on the cheek. The bride-to-be smiled as she wore the stunning engagement ring. Rucker said as he announced the couple’s engagement: “Thank you for showing me a level of happiness I have never known. The day I met you I knew I didn’t want to go another one without you. Now I don’t have to.”

Deahl, a content creator and singer-songwriter, said at the time that she “never intended on keeping this part of my life from you guys for so long, but somewhere along the way of loving him I discovered how sacred love is to me. And all I wanted to do was protect it.” She also said, however, that she's “glad I don’t have to spend the time photoshopping him out of every photo now.”

Rucker also spoke about forming Howl Owl Howl, a band with Mike Mills of R.E.M. and Steve Gorman of The Black Crowes, how he feels about his children pursuing music, and more. Watch his appearance on the TODAY show here:
