Dolly Parton chronicles many of her unforgettable, beloved performances spanning her decades-long career in Star of the Show: My Life on Stage. The new book, which published on Tuesday (November 11), is the final installment of a trilogy that also pays tribute to Parton’s iconic lyrics and fashion moments.

Parton, 79, debuted Star of the Show: My Life on Stage to reflect on her earliest memories of singing for her family in East Tennessee, singing with late legend Porter Wagoner, kicking off her solo career, making her onscreen debut in 9 to 5, headlining sold-out stadium and arena tours around the world, performing the 2023 Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day halftime show, and much more. The book also includes Parton’s performances with other legendary musicians, including Kenny Rogers, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris, to name a few.

“I’m so proud that I’ve been able to spend the last 70 plus years doing what I feel I was born to do...singing, writing, and performing,” Parton said in a statement. “Even prouder that I’ve been able to do it with and for my fans. God bless you everyone.”

Star of the Show: My Life on Stage follows Parton’s Songteller (the trilogy installment focused on lyrics, which released in 2020), and Behind the Seams (the fashion installment that arrived in 2023). Parton previously described the book as “a celebration of my journey as a performer, filled with personal stories, cherished memories, and never-before-seen photos from more than seven decades on stage.” Star of the Show expands on “engaging stories and memories from Parton’s dynamic life behind the microphone,” including “signature performances and star-making moments.”

“This book looks back on my seven decades of performing,” Parton said. “It’s a love letter to the stage and to the fans who’ve made it all possible. What a way to make a living! I can never thank you enough.”
