Why Megan Moroney Says Her 'Strongest, Most Confident' Era Is Incomplete

Megan Moroney’s Cloud 9 isn’t complete yet.

The Georgia-born country artist said her third studio record, which arrived on February 20, “is not complete without a dance party ending.” Moroney shared a sneak peek of a dance-worthy, unreleased anthem that’s due to arrive on Friday (February 27). She wrote in her caption, “oh no way! feels like I’ve known u forever 😍💘💕☁️☁️🩷💕💓💘”

The original 15-track Cloud 9 includes the title track, “6 Months Later,” “Beautiful Things,” “Wish I Didn’t,” “I Only Miss You” with Ed Sheeran, “Bells & Whistles” with Kacey Musgraves, and more. Moroney’s highly-anticipated album, defined by the signature color pink, follows 2024’s Am I Okay? and her 2023 debut, Lucky (blue and green eras, respectively). Moroney shared in a handwritten note to fans that she “had the most fun I’ve ever had writing these songs/dreaming up this world and a majority of this album was created right in the midst of the ‘Am I Okay? Tour.’ The pure joy y’all brought me night after night resulted in so many of these songs and ideas so I can’t thank y’all enough for inspiring me. There’s a newfound confidence woven throughout Cloud 9 along with humor, honesty, heartbreak (duh), softness and love. It’s got everything I love about country music.”

Moroney is in the midst of “9 Cities. 9 Days.,” exclusive run of appearances described as “a fan-focused celebration” of Cloud 9, states a previous press release issued. Moroney said in a statement in the release: “When I thought about the release of Cloud 9, I knew I wanted to spend it with my fans. They’re the reason I get to do this, and I’m so excited to celebrate this album with them!” See the remaining stops here:

“I am so excited for my fans and I to dive into this new world of Cloud 9 together,” Moroney said in a statement when she announced the album. “Similar to the first two albums, it’s all written about honest, personal experiences, but these songs were written by the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been. My feet feel firmly planted in my artistry and it was fun to play around sonically, while still sticking to my roots of what my fans and I love. Cloud 9 is a state of mind, and I have no doubt this will be the best chapter yet.”
