Hannah Harper āseriously canāt waitā to release a new song at the end of the week.
Harper, 26, shared a sneak peek of āMarried Into This Townā on TikTok and Instagram on Tuesday (July 7). She sings: āI left behind those city streets/ For a small town boy and his grandmaās ring/ White picket fence and a front porch swing/Ā Hand-me-down couch and a newfound dream/ I wasnāt born with roots in the ground/Ā But I brought āem with me and plan to lay āem down/ Aināt got a money tree growing in the yard/ But thereās a dollar store right down the street/ I just wanna be anywhere you are/ Hands in the dirt, planting new seeds/ Some people canāt wait to get out/ Oh, but I married into this town/ Oh, but I married into this town.ā
Earlier this year, Harper, a mother of three from Willow Springs, Missouri, became the first female country artist to win American Idol since Carrie Underwoodās career-launching victory in 2005. Underwood returned to Idol as a judge last year, two decades after she competed on the show. The eight-time Grammy winner cried during Harperās audition with a vulnerable original song that went viral. Harper performed āString Cheese,ā and earned praise from Underwood and her fellow judges, Luke BryanĀ andĀ Lionel Richie. Bryan said Harperās voice reminded him of Kacey Musgraves,Ā Alison Krauss,Ā Dolly PartonĀ and others.
āMarried Into This Townā will arrive on Friday (July 10).
