(New York) - Delray Beach's Coco Gauff will meet Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals at the US Open Thursday. World #4 Gauff is back in the hunt for her second U.S. Open title.

Gauff, the 2023 U.S. Open Champion, must first get past newly crowned World #1 Rybakina for a chance to win again.

“Elena, she’s the new world No. 1 so it’s gonna be a tough match,” Gauff's record is 2-1 vs. Rybakina and she says, “Last time we played it was a tough three-setter for me and I’m looking forward to the battle. These are the moments you live for.”

The 22-year-old had a rocky start in the quarterfinals dumping the first set in Arthur Ashe Stadium. She then fended off two match points in the second set to best 19-year-old Russian #5 Mirra Andreeva.

Former #1 and two-time defending champion, Aryna Sabalenka takes on #3 American Jessica Pegula in the other semi-final.

Not since 1975 have the top four women’s seeds advanced to the semis.
