Subway is Getting a Meat Slicer

When I was 13 my dad who was a pilot for FedEx and a former Navy Pilot, decided to venture into the restaurant business and buy three Subway franchises in my hometown of Memphis, TN. As a result all 5 of us kids worked there. I started helping out when I was a freshman in high school and loved being able to earn my own money and help out the family 'business'

All of our deli meats came pre-packaged, and you would take the package out of the cooler, take the meat out of the plastic and place it into the appropriate bin on the front line. Well now Subway is putting deli meat slicers in all of their stores. They won't be cutting meat to order like other sandwich shops, but it'll be sliced fresh when they workers do their prep for the day just like how they cut the tomatoes and onions.

I also like how the machine is automatic. It'll take up less of the employees time to slice it and minimize the risk of injury. Those slicing machines can be DANGEROUS.

I'm a sucker for a great deli sandwich so it's pretty cool that they're taking the meat at Subway up a notch! Check out a video of how it'll work below.
