As you hopefully have noticed by now, I'm a HUGE Taylor Swift fan and this is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. It warmed my heart!!!
A college basketball team called the Providence Friars spend the entire season using the Taylor Swift song 'You Belong With Me' to pump up their fans during the games. If you're thinking 'strange choice' I agree, but the fans went WILD! They sang and danced along to every single word of the 2008 hit. If this doesn't make you smile, we can't be friends.
The Friars ended up with a 27–6 season as well as a Big East regular-season title and Sweet 16 appearance. They sent a social media shoutout to Taylor saying she will “forever be a part of the 2022 season and all that the team achieved.”
Taylor being the perfect sweetheart that she is responded with, “Hi Friars! What an amazing 2022 season! Congratulations to you all on your incredible and inspiring success,” read a handwritten letter from the singer. “Sending you all hugs!”
Sometimes we CAN have nice things. Well done Friars and Taylor too of course.
