It's official...Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez is named interim president at Florida International University. Barry University's Sean Foreman says the Miami native, a 52-year-old mother of three, served in Tallahassee as a state representative for eight years before becoming Lt. Governor. She was selected with just one "no" vote from the Board of Trustees. Nunez is expected to start the job February 17th. Current interim President Kenneth Jessell has agreed to accept a new role as senior vice president and chief administrative officer. Governor Ron DeSantis will now appoint her successor. Names on the short list include his wife Casey, Matt Gaetz and Wilton Simpson.
