Body cam video has surfaced in the case of a man who's charged with brutally beating a nurse.

Stephen Scantlebury had an encounter with deputies outside a Dunkin' Donuts in Wellington, one day before the incident.

In the video, the man tells deputies that he is having "things" going on in his life and when asked if he would like to see a mental health professional, Scantlebury tells the deputy "Ha, no."

The man's mother also voices her concerns about her son's mental health, but a deputy in the video explains that he couldn't take Scantlebury in for a psychiatric evaluation because he wasn't showing signs of being a danger to himself or others.

The next day, he would take himself to Palms West Hospital, where the attack happened. The nurse was beaten so badly that every bone in her face was broken and she lost her sight.

Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration found "no deficiencies" in a review of the hospital's safety regulations.
