FLORIDA - Gas prices in Florida have seen a notable decrease, with the average price for regular unleaded fuel dropping to $2.88 per gallon as of Monday.
This marks an 11-cent drop from the previous week's price of $2.99 per gallon, as reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Over the last month, fuel prices in the state have fallen by around 8 cents, continuing the trend of declining prices.
In the past year, gas prices in Florida have experienced fluctuations, ranging from as low as $2.85 per gallon on May 12, 2025, to as high as $3.45 per gallon on July 8, 2024.
This year's price drop is a welcome change, especially compared to the higher prices seen in recent months.
Looking at last year, the average price in Florida was $3.45 per gallon, meaning the state’s current average is 17% lower than the same time in 2024.
Despite the drop, Florida gas prices remain well below the national average.
As of last week, the average price across the United States was $3.13 per gallon, making Florida’s prices approximately 8% lower than the national average.
Though prices are down from last year, the cost of fuel remains a significant factor for many Floridians, and fluctuations in prices will likely continue based on various factors, including market trends and global oil prices.
Nonetheless, Florida residents are currently benefiting from lower fuel costs compared to many other regions.
