FLORIDA - Florida's unemployment claims rose last week, while nationwide claims decreased slightly, with Nevada seeing the largest increase and North Dakota the largest decrease in new claims.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, unemployment claims in Florida increased last week.

For the week ending July 12th, the state reported 7,078 new unemployment claims, up from 6,188 the previous week.

This rise reflects a higher number of individuals seeking unemployment benefits in Florida.

Nationwide, U.S. unemployment claims decreased slightly to 221,000 for the week, down 7,000 from the 228,000 claims reported in the previous week.

This national figure is seasonally adjusted.

Nevada saw the largest percentage increase in new unemployment claims, rising by 4,595.7%.

This sharp rise may reflect significant layoffs or other factors affecting the state's job market.

In contrast, North Dakota experienced the largest percentage drop in claims, with a 57% decrease.

This indicates a significant reduction in jobless filings in the state.

The Department of Labor’s report highlights state-by-state variation in unemployment claims.

While Florida’s claims increased, many other states, such as North Dakota, reported declines.

These fluctuations suggest differences in local labor markets and the impact of economic conditions on jobless claims.

Overall, the latest data from the Department of Labor shows a mixed trend across the U.S., with some states, including Florida, seeing increases in unemployment claims, while others report decreases.
