FLORIDA - Sean Hannity warns that if Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor of New York, a "mass exodus" of businesses and residents to Florida could follow due to high taxes and burdensome regulations in New York.
The Fox News host has raised concerns about the potential economic impact of Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral campaign, suggesting that his policies could lead to a significant number of businesses and residents leaving New York.
Hannity, who relocated to Florida in January, made these remarks during an appearance on Fox & Friends, where he discussed a recent Quinnipiac University poll showing low approval ratings for both Democrats and Republicans in Congress.
Mamdani, 33, won the Democratic mayoral primary in June and is seen as a progressive voice within the party.
Hannity, however, warned that Mamdani’s policies could drive businesses out of New York due to high taxes and regulations.
According to Hannity, several companies have already moved their operations to Florida, which he referred to as “Wall Street South,” due to these factors.
Hannity also addressed the mayoral race, acknowledging Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa and independent candidate Andrew Cuomo, who is gaining in the polls.
He suggested that the split among left-leaning candidates could open an opportunity for Sliwa in the election.
Real estate experts, however, caution that it is too early to predict how Mamdani’s policies will affect New York’s luxury real estate market.
Donna Olshan, a luxury broker in Manhattan, told the NY Post that while some clients have expressed concern, it’s unlikely that long-term residents will leave the city solely due to political changes.
Some city residents say they're considering moving to nearby suburbs like Suffolk and Nassau counties instead of further destinations.
